Advanced Sources

"Scholarly" sources give you more authoritative information and arguments about your topic. They typically do not provide background information or current events. Use the links below to search for:

  • Peer-reviewed articles from academic journals are easiest to find in databases.
  • Books from academic publishers:
    • In the book's description, look for "University" in the publisher's name.
    • Some publishers like Springer or Lexington are academic even though they aren't associated with a university. Google the publisher to learn whether they specialize in academic books.

Look through recent issues of scholarly journals about a subject to see what researchers have been studying.
