Town Hall Research Guide: Academic (Scholarly) Sources

Advanced Sources

"Scholarly" sources give you more authoritative information and arguments about your topic. They typically do not provide background information or current events. Use the links below to search for:

  • Peer-reviewed articles from academic journals are easiest to find in databases.
  • Books from academic publishers:
    • In the book's description, look for "University" in the publisher's name.
    • Some publishers like Springer or Lexington are academic even though they aren't associated with a university. Google the publisher to learn whether they specialize in academic books.

WorldCat Discovery (WCD)

The SU Library recently launched WorldCat Discovery (WCD), a tool that allows you to search for multiple resources, in many formats, located in the SU Library and in libraries worldwide.
